About Leadership Labs

With career progression into roles with more leadership responsibilities, the landscape becomes ever more ambiguous and complex. It is not uncommon for leaders, new and old, to feel like they are doing a great job one minute, only to feel like they are failing the next.

While there are countless technical books, courses, frameworks, libraries, and templates to support the developing engineer, there are far fewer resources available for the developing engineering leader. Management and leadership involve people and relationships, which are inherently complex and unpredictable.

Leadership Labs offers a way to help you navigate these new challenges, to become the great leader you know you can be. Blend expertise, peers, theory, and reality with a supportive community and you’ll feel much more confident to face these challenges head-on.

  • Facilitated by John and Simon, at Human-Centric Engineering who are both experienced software engineers and engineering leaders. We feel this is vital for understanding the developing leader's experience and perspectives.

  • it is important that people feel able to share their personal struggles with aspects of engineering leadership. In order to learn we must be willing to adopt the beginner's mind and be a little vulnerable. Leadership Labs will respect the confidentiality of participants and encourage an environment of humble, curious and respectful communication.

  • The sessions will be themed according to suggestions, requests and interests of participants. We will be seeking feedback throughout to ensure we stay on track and meet the needs of the group.

  • While participants will be from engineering backgrounds, the focus is on the human aspects of engineering. Think psychology, sociology, and philosophy rather than technology. We often rush to find technical solutions to human problems, here we will be working with the assumption that human issues underlie most of the difficult challenges in software engineering.

  • As a monthly subscription you can cancel at any time. If you're on an annual plan you'll be refunded for any full months left on you're plan. If you're not happy with Leadership Labs for any reason and cancel within the first three months you'll get a full refund.
